Job Description

The Financial Controller will oversee the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role is critical in driving the company’s financial strategy, providing financial insights, and supporting senior management in decision-making processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly analytical, and possesses strong leadership skills.

BMI is a leading vehicle manufacturing company dedicated to the needs of the waste and recycling industry sector. We are committed to excellence in our operations, and we are looking for a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our dynamic team.

Financial Management - Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial information.

  • Prepare detailed monthly management accounts, with supporting commentary on monthly and year-to-date performance and analyses, including variance analyses with budgets, key performance measures including sales, production, overheads, and cash flows
  • Prepare timely and accurate annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS in preparation for audit, as appropriate.
  • Manage cash flow, including monitoring bank balances and forecasts, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet the company’s obligations.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, including preparation, review, and presentation of budgets to senior management.
  • Monitor actual performance against the budget, analyse variances, and provide regular financial reports and insights to management.
  • Develop financial models to support strategic initiatives and business decisions.

Compliance & Audit:

  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including tax filings, financial audits, and regulatory reporting.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all audit requirements.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of relevant accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting and finance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support company objectives and drive financial efficiency.

Strategic Planning:

Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic planning and decision-making by senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CIMA, CPA, CMA, or ACA qualified.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 5 years in a senior financial management role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in financial management software (e.g., ERP systems, Excel) and financial modelling.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
