Job Title: Lead Developer (Software Engineer)

Location: Kingston-Upon-Hull (Hybrid, 2 days on-site, 3 days homeworking)

Job Type: Full-time

As a Lead Software Developer, you will be at the forefront of one of our development teams, driving the design, development, and deployment of our software solutions as well as maintaining a suite of existing systems. You will lead by example, inspiring your team through your dedication, technical excellence, and innovative thinking. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful delivery of projects that meet both our high standards and our clients' varying needs.

Key Responsibilities of a Lead Software Engineer:

  • Lead the development team in the design, development, and implementation of robust and scalable software solutions.
  • Manage workloads and resourcing levels for your team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Ensure code quality and maintainability by conducting code reviews, writing tests, and documenting your work.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Ensure contracts and SLAs are upheld for support and maintenance.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technology trends and best practices to drive innovation within the team.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning of the company's technology roadmap.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proficiency in C# (v5 and newer), ReactJs, and SQL.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Proven track record of leading and delivering complex software projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory/Entra, and Microsoft Graph.
  • Sysadmin experience with the above.
  • Microsoft certifications.
  • Experience with headless CMS and bespoke e-commerce.
  • Web development.
