Our growing business is seeking a skilled and innovative Electronics Design Engineer at senior level to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and demonstrate proficiency in designing, developing, and testing electronic systems. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who is adept at problem-solving and can work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
A small UK Northwest-based business, a leader in the development, consultancy and manufacturing of safety-critical electronic products and systems, principally for Intrinsic safety and Functional safety. Mutech contributes significantly to the development of related international technical safety standards and their conformity assessment and provides related consultancy services to customers.
Alongside its Design & Development activities, the company offers a high-quality Contracts Electronics Manufacturing Service for clients requiring certification and compliance with strict quality and accreditation standards.
Electronics Design Engineer Responsibilities:
- Hardware development of electronic industrial equipment including microprocessors, analogue processing, power supplies, RF etc.
- Circuit analysis using both simulation and mathematics
- Schematics and PCB layout (mostly using Altium)
- Some software: mostly embedded in C or C++. some PC support applications in C#
- Writing and working with detailed technical documentation
- Providing consultancy services to clients to assist them with meeting international safety standards, primarily in functional safety to IEC61508 and Intrinsic safety to IEC60079-11
Candidate Profile Including qualifications
- A degree in Electronics Engineering or a similar subject is essential.
- At least 5 years of experience in designing electronic hardware
- Some experience in embedded software development
- Good communication skills and comfortable communicating directly with customers
- Comfortable and effective at producing detailed technical information
- Committed to working to high standards and embracing the company's process-based approach
- A lateral thinker, someone who can see the world from the customer user's viewpoint
- Comfortable with the formal and semi-formal approaches required for functional safety
- Experience with IEC60079-11 or IEC 61508 or similar standards for safety-critical applications is an advantage but not a requirement as training can be provided.
