Job vacancy for a Software Developer Lead (Azure, Javescript, Nodejs, React and Nextjs)

The Role:

As the Lead Software Developer at Ambrey, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our development team, serving as a vital link between the coders and stakeholders. Your role involves not only developing and maintaining production applications but also ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality software solutions within our Azure environment.

With your expertise in Azure cloud services and JavaScript, you will lead the team in adopting best practices, while working closely with the Director of Technology & Innovation to align project goals with the company's strategic vision. This position requires strong leadership skills and a commitment to fostering a supportive and efficient team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the development team, including providing direction and support.
  • Serve as the primary interface between developers and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project goals.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of production applications, ensuring robustness and scalability within the Azure environment.
  • Conduct code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality and performance.
  • Oversee and manage deployments to production environments, ensuring smooth and reliable releases.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Technology & Innovation to align development activities with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Coordinate and manage project timelines, ensuring that all deliverables are met on schedule.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and communication between the development team and other departments, such as Product Management and Operations.
  • Report on project status, challenges, and progress to the Director of Technology & Innovation and other senior stakeholders.
  • Monitor team performance and project outcomes, with a focus on improving efficiency and software quality.
  • Implement and advocate for best practices in software development, particularly in the use of Azure and JavaScript.
  • Any other tasks as may be required.

Qualifications and skills:

8+ years’ experience of software development.
5+ years experience using Microsoft Azure to deliver applications across the full stack.
5+ years experience of Azure Functions, Service Bus and API management.
5+ years experience using JavaScript/Nodejs.
At least 3 years previous experience in leading development teams.
Strong Experience completing code-reviews.
React/Nextjs are frontend Libraries in use.
Strong proven experience deploying stateless architecture techniques in a CI/CD pipeline.
Design, build and maintenance of APIs using REST/Graph/etc.
Good version control using git.
Produce clean and efficient code.

  • Salary: £55,000 to £75,000 commensurate with experience.
  • Annual Leave: 25 days per annum plus public holidays
  • Working Hours: Dependant on location, Mon-Fri
