Lead Quality Engineer

Our client is looking for an experienced and dynamic Lead Quality Engineer to join the team and take the helm of the Quality Assurance (QA) department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and monitoring of all QA systems to ensure compliance with industry standards. They will lead and support the development of lean and Six Sigma initiatives and processes while managing a dedicated QA team.

Responsibilities for Lead Quality Engineer:

  • Implement and monitor all QA systems to ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Lead and support the development of lean and Six Sigma initiatives and processes
  • Manage a dedicated QA team, providing guidance and support to team members
  • Develop and deliver team training to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Prioritise team workloads and track department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Ensure the implementation of robust quality controls and operating systems
  • Schedule internal and external audits and act as a lead on all quality matters
  • Deputise and support the Quality Manager as needed
  • Utilise auditing experience and wide knowledge of lean manufacturing and engineering processes and practices
  • Preferably, have aerospace industry experience and an HNC or similar qualification

Qualifications for Lead Quality Engineer:

  • Proven experience in implementing and monitoring QA systems
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
  • Strong knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing and engineering processes
  • Auditing experience and familiarity with Six Sigma and lean manufacturing principles
  • Preferably experienced in the aerospace industry, with knowledge of aerospace parts and assemblies
  • HNC or similar qualification in a relevant field

Day-to-day for Lead Quality Engineer:

  • Overseeing the implementation and monitoring of QA systems
  • Leading and supporting the development of lean and Six Sigma initiatives
  • Managing and guiding the QA team
  • Developing and delivering team training
  • Prioritising and tracking team workloads and department KPI's
  • Ensuring robust quality controls and operating systems
