Test Installation & Service Manager

Want to work for a world leading engineering company specialising in the manufacture of high-precision electromagnetic devices for the science and healthcare sectors? At Tesla Engineering Ltd, you can be proud of the part you are playing in addressing important issues such as the diagnosis and treatment of serious illnesses, and research into the fundamental nature of matter and the origins of the universe. Our growing company is enthusiastically looking to recruit highly-motivated, ambitious and committed individuals to join our friendly and supportive team.

About Tesla Engineering

Tesla is engaged in the design, manufacture and servicing of superconducting magnets for the medical and scientific markets and these products are frequently shipped to Asia, Europe and the USA. Tesla Engineering has operations in China, Europe and the USA. All magnets manufactured in the company require testing by test engineers prior to shipping. Once the product has left the factory there will be a requirement for Tesla personnel to install and test the magnet on the customer’s site and there may be a follow up contract for Tesla to service that product over its useful life. Tesla Engineering Limited wishes to recruit a Test/Service manager to manage the company’s internal product testing programs and the international service commitments. We believe that such a role requires a person with a technical background who also possesses very strong organisational/logistics skills and a willingness to talk to customers and to travel when necessary to customer sites.

Primary Functions

  • Daily management of the TI&S team, assigning tasks and responsibilities and actively checking on progress.
  • Create and maintain the TI&S schedule to ensure that all obligations are met, requiring the management of the team of engineers and the equipment and resources they need both inside the factory in the test areas, and at customer sites around the globe.
  • Adopt a flexible approach to respond to changing requirements, and anticipate and manage future workload, ensuring adequate provision of resources; equipment and staff.
  • Encourage development of the test team through training and experience, and maintain records of competence to allow suitable allocation of tasks.
  • Promote proactive problem solving while balancing the requirement to escalate to technical authorities.
  • Be point of contact for customers and potential customers to provide advice and solutions. This may require out-of-hours telephone response.
  • Provide accurate costings for jobs, create and record quotations, and manage orders to grow the business.
  • Ensure accurate records are made of testing and service work and that these records adhere to company standards and are produced in a timely manner.
  • Engender a positive “can-do” attitude within the team where getting the job done is the second highest priority (safety is always the first).
