For this role candidates will need to hold a suitable engineering qualification or have proven experience.

This role would ideally suit somebody who values the importance of attention to detail and has the ability to work using their own initiative whilst also being part of a team. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential for this role. Awareness of industry material and design standards eg ATEX and ASME is desirable.

The main responsibilities of the Project Engineer (Mechanical/E&I) are:

  • Project manage all aspects of design and production of custom-built packages.
  • Schedule, monitor and control project activities to meet critical deadlines.
  • Liaising directly with clients and suppliers to ensure requirements are understood and met e.g. regulatory processes, material, and design specifications such as ASME VIII and PD5500, industry electrical and instrumentation standards. Inhouse company standards also to be met and communicated.
  • Working with suppliers and clients to resolve issues and find appropriate solutions, while ensuring Roots interests are protected.
  • Guiding and expediting the design team (drawing office) to produce technical drawings that meet project specification, drive production activities to progress the package build which will include technical and operational problem solving.
  • Raising purchase orders for a variety of structural, piping, controls and instrumentation equipment that meet client and company specifications and monitoring costs against project budget.
  • Supporting the production department and suppliers with prioritising and scheduling manufacturing, build, and test operations to ensure critical milestones are achieved.

The ideal Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation candidate will have a positive and enthusiastic attitude and a ‘can do’ approach to tasks. You will be tenacious, curious, resilient and have a passion for engineering.
