Job Description

Are you a mid-level Front End Developer looking for the next step in your career, who values strong communication and teamwork? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and driven Front-End Developer to join our Digital Operations Department. As a pivotal member of our Design & UX team, while working alongside our Technical Product Owners Team – you will play a leading role in shaping and advancing the front-end development across a wide range of digital products. This role will place you at the forefront of our work on William Reed’s cutting-edge Digital Experience Platform (DXP), Arc XP, where you will take the lead in delivering innovative front-end solutions.

Position: Front-End Developer, Full time (35hr per week), permanent.

Location: Hybrid: Office based Crawley (2 days)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Take a leadership role in front-end development within an international b2b business, working on technology platforms such as Arc XP, William Reed’s new DXP platform.
  • Lead front-end initiatives across multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring a seamless transition from design to code.
  • Oversee the translation of design mock-ups into high-quality code, utilising HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and JavaScript while strictly adhering to Core Web Vitals standards.
  • Lead and mentor peers during development cycles, ensuring that high-quality standards are both met and maintained.
  • Actively participate in technical discussions, while setting best practices and processes for front-end development.
  • Develop, test, and optimise front-end code across various devices and platforms, taking full responsibility for the front-end code created.
  • Create a front-end development standard for the business alongside the heads of the Design & UX team and Technical Product Owners teams that can be expanded upon
  • Document all technical processes, methodologies, and code effectively to maintain clarity for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Requirements
  • Proven experience in leading front-end development for multiple projects and providing guidance to other team members.
  • Strong experience theming across multiple platforms, translating design documents into fully functional code using HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and JavaScript.
  • Demonstrable experience with JavaScript frameworks, particularly React.
  • Solid understanding of Core Web Vitals and how to optimise for performance, accessibility, and overall user experience.
  • Experience in version control systems such as Bitbucket, documentation tools such as Confluence, project management tools such as Jira and GUI Git Clients such as SourceTree.
  • Clear ability to communicate complex development concepts to both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Expertise in using tools like Adobe Suite and Figma to ensure accurate design-to-code translation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment with cross-functional teams including project managers, designers, and testers to deadlines.
  • Desirable: Experience with animation libraries such as GSAP or Locomotive Scroll.
