Job Description

We’re looking for a Full Stack Games Programmer with experience of back & front-end web development to join us to create cutting-edge prosocial games. Mojiworks is a 7x winner of GamesIndustry.biz’s Best Places To Work awards, proud of our progressive culture and diverse team, and pioneers of next-generation social games on a variety of platforms.

This is junior or mid level role, and is an ideal entry point for someone with professional web development experience who is looking to get in to games. Or, you might be a game developer with some experience that wants to learn unusual technologies to reach a mass audience.

You’ll be immersed in a creative, encouraging, and highly collaborative environment where your voice will be heard. You’ll be involved in game design as well as coding, using feedback to build and iterate using a variety of web technologies. You’ll be managed and mentored within an award-winning culture to encourage sustainable high performance.

We’ll appreciate you for your great collaboration as much as your coding skills. You’ll be responsible for creating game systems and features, and play a key part in deciding what our games should be. You’ll work on the entire lifecycle of projects, from prototyping to live operations.

Your role:

  • Code features & systems across all aspects of our games & tools, with a focus on crafting wonderful experiences for players.
  • Daily full-stack development in Typescript using VS Code, for 2D and 3D game development in WebGL engines such as PlayCanvas
  • Collaborate within a cross-discipline team to design & build the best game possible
  • Help other team members to problem solve & get the best out of the codebase

We’re looking for:

  • Professional experience in a web or game programming role
  • Demonstrable experience of full-stack programming
  • Demonstrable experience of game development, either professional or hobbyist
  • A strong desire to learn, and excitement to get your hands on new technologies and solve interesting problems
  • A love of collaborating, with the empathy and confidence required to give and take constructive feedback

Annual salary: £31K-£52K

About Us

Mojiworks is a leader in games for Discord, a pioneer of next generation social games with 140M players and counting, and a 7x winner of GamesIndustry.biz’s Best Places To Work awards.

Since 2016 we’ve led the way in using modern social apps as places for a new type of game. Played in the online places where friends already hang out, our games are designed to strengthen friendships and start new ones through the joy of playing together.

Mojiworks is an online & remote company, with an administrative HQ in Guildford, UK - a renowned game industry hub. We’re distributed across locations, and highly collaborative using Slack text & video. We pride ourselves on our strong personal connections & community (which we put a lot of effort in to).

We believe that being online, rather than physically centralised, makes us the best team: we can have diverse talent from all over the world; better support individual working needs; and lift everyone up to have the same opportunity for impact & collaboration.

We work flexibly, but coordinate around Europe/Middle-East/Africa timezones.

Diversity

Our commitment to building a team as diverse as our players has seen us win GamesIndustry.biz’s Diversity Award twice - the only company to do so - in recognition of our efforts both internally and in the wider industry. We eagerly welcome differences in background, life experience, and culture, knowing that this helps us make the most creative & high-performing team possible. If this speaks to you, we encourage you to apply.

We employ people where they are resident: if you’re within the UK you’ll be an employee of Mojiworks and if you’re outside the UK we use Deel
