Job Description

As Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will play the lead role in site investigation projects, as well as demonstrate their commercial acumen to develop and grow the business. They will be responsible for planning and executing geotechnical investigations and analysing data with a strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and geotechnical engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Investigation:

  • Plan and supervise geotechnical investigations, including drilling, sampling, and testing.
  • On-site investigation work, analysis, production and checking of technical reports and project management to ensure project KPIs are met.
  • Conduct and manage site visits and oversee Site Engineer’s in collection of soil samples.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyse geotechnical data and prepare detailed engineering reports.
  • Arrange timely laboratory tests on soil samples.
  • Use geotechnical software to model soil behaviour and predict site conditions.

Design and Recommendations:

  • Develop foundation designs, retaining walls, and other geotechnical structures.
  • Provide recommendations for site preparation, earthworks, and ground improvement.

Project Management:

  • Work collaboratively with our clients, other engineers and technicians to deliver quality factual and interpretative reports.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Manage team of Reporting Technicians and Geologists.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably with site investigation projects.
  • Working knowledge of soil geotechnical properties, investigation techniques, laboratory testing methodologies and Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Personable with strong communication and relationship building capabilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Commercial awareness to develop and grow the business.

Other Requirements:

  • Awareness of UK Standards / regulations / Euro Codes
  • Eligible to work and live in UK.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
  • Full driving licence valid in the UK.
