Job Description

We are looking for a talented Data Scientist, who will be involved in analysing data to support the development and deployment of our innovative technology, providing insights and recommendations based on data-driven analysis.

A Little About Us

We are a clean-tech company based in Newcastle upon Tyne, specialising in providing cutting-edge solutions and support for the Offshore, Nuclear, and Utilities sectors. With a track record of success and growth, we have secured significant contract wins over the past 12 months. “If you are an experienced data scientist, we would love to hear from you.”

With us, you will have the opportunity to work with exciting and innovative products. One such project utilises satellite remote sensing technologies, machine learning algorithms, and our expertise in integrity management to provide critical insights for onshore gas and water pipeline operators.

Another exciting product is No Dig®, a multi-award-winning patented technology that repairs leaks in water pipelines without excavation or needing to know exactly where the leak is.

We are committed to sustainability and helping our clients reduce carbon emissions. As part of our efforts, we have implemented a scope to quantify the carbon emissions for the current processes we undertake. For this scope, data analysis is key to deriving equations custom-made to our processes in order to understand the potential savings in carbon emissions.

In addition to the products mentioned above, there is ample scope for the development of other R&D-related products and involvement in day-to-day project and automation initiatives.

The role as our Data Scientist includes opportunities for career path progression and personal development as you contribute to our ongoing success and growth.

  • Execute all aspects of the data analysis process, collaborating with the project teams to understand project requirements to generate optimized outputs for use in engineering projects and processes.
  • Develop and implement automation techniques to streamline current processes and data analysis workflows, enhancing efficiency and productivity.
  • Apply predictive analytics, machine learning, statistical modelling, and algorithm design to extract insights and solve complex engineering problems.
  • Develop interactive and user-friendly applications and codes to facilitate data exploration and analysis, enhancing user experience and accessibility.
  • Produce technical notes, reports, and calculations for quality assurance purposes, maintaining accuracy and precision in documentation.
  • Utilize tools and techniques for data visualization to communicate findings effectively to the project team and support decision-making processes.
  • Assist in R&D scopes, contributing data-driven insights and analyses to drive innovation and business growth.
  • Utilize project management skills to ensure timely delivery of projects within budget constraints and meeting client specifications.
  • At least 5 years of related data scientist experience is required, including AI/machine learning and the analysis of visual/graphical datasets.
  • Experience in industry sectors such as Utilities, Nuclear, Offshore, or Defence is ideal, but experience in any other engineering industry would be considered.
  • A higher Bachelor's or Masters Degree is essential.
  • Proficiency in Python / C++ required. Knowledge of additional languages (e.g., Java, SQL) is advantageous.
  • A high level of proficiency in Office365, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel, is essential.
  • Use of other engineering packages MATLAB would be advantageous.
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills are essential, with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Consistency and thoroughness in checking and preparing data are crucial.
  • Ability to perform routine tasks and engage in research and development to drive projects forward.
  • Strong analytical, visualization, and interpretive skills are necessary.
  • Familiarity with geospatial data is considered an advantage, but not essential.
