The Role:

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the advancement of fusion energy. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will hold a key role in providing technical expertise to support and lead the development of Remote Handling equipment for fusion and non-fusion applications in challenging environments, following established project methodology.

In this role, you will be an internal technical expert in remote handling technology, covering areas such as machinery and mechanism design, welding techniques, lifting and handling procedures, remote maintenance design, systems engineering and integration, and design considerations for fusion environments including radiation, magnetic fields, and heat.

Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate engineering projects delivered by a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Design complex electro-mechanical devices.
  • Perform calculations from first principles as needed.
  • Review designs and calculations performed by team members.
  • Produce technical documents and specifications.
  • Work effectively as part of a larger team.
  • Support procurement and manufacture of robotic devices.
  • Conduct quality verification and testing activities.

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

  • BEng in a relevant subject or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of complex Remote Maintenance systems or equivalent machinery.

Desirable:

  • Chartered Engineer and member of a professional engineering institution.
